The NBA Finals didn’t even officially end yet, and Sixers center Joel Embiid already started to recruit LeBron James. Just after James sat on the bench for what may be his final time ever in a Cavaliers uniform, Embiid tweeted “ Trust the Process!!!! Find a new slant @KingJames.
(The tweet was in reference to the Sixers slogan and the recent scandal that saw the team’s GM Bryan Colangelo part ways with the franchise.)
Embiid’s pitch wasn’t alone. Within minutes, Spurs guard Dejounte Murray tweeted a picture of James in a San Antonio jersey.
After Murray came Knicks center Enes Kanter (who hasn’t even opted into his own contract yet), who tweeted a picture of James in a New York jersey.
This is just the beginning. July starts the free agency period, where things could get real interesting. Nobody seems to have any idea of whether this will be it for James’ return to Cleveland or whether he’ll go somewhere else.
But everybody’s trying to do their part in getting him on their side already.
