Kyle Lowry has a new nickname for Kawhi Leonard - ClutchPoints

It has been well-documented that Kyle Lowry was not happy when the Toronto Raptors had traded away his teammate and best friend DeMar DeRozan. Regardless of who the team was getting back, Lowry was losing who had played with for years, built chemistry with, and called a brother.

It’s taken a few months for Kyle Lowry and his new teammate Kawhi Leonard to build that chemistry. Leonard is a quiet guy that has the talent of a top-five NBA player. But it seems like Lowry is softening up to his small forward.

Eric Koreen of the Athletic Toronto tweeted this out today:

This is great news for any Raptors fan, knowing that their two star-players are beginning to mesh and develop chemistry on the court.

On the season, Kyle Lowry is averaging 14.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 10 assists per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the field. His 10 assists a game leads the NBA. His ability to run an offense and be an efficient off-ball three-point shooter gives Lowry and the Raptors so much offensive versatility.

Kawhi Leonard on the season is averaging 26.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3 assists per game while shooting 48.8 percent from the field. His ability to isolate and score with floaters and tear-drops in the post make him a deadly weapon. He hits from deep and the midrange at a high rate, he can pull up at any time. Plus, he’s a former defensive player of the year. He’s completely revamped the Raptors defensive identity.

The Toronto Raptors are 23-7 on the season and are leading the NBA’s Eastern Conference. Since adding Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green, along with first-year head coach Nick Nurse, the Raptors seem revitalized and may even have an opportunity to take down the Golden State Warriors’ throne this season. But first, they’ll have to go through the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers.
