In Week 16, the Kansas City Chiefs needed two things to happen in order to get their postseason situation settled before the final week of the season.
Both of those things have now happened. On Saturday night, the Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Diego Chargers 22-10. In Sunday’s early games, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Houston Texans 32-30 on a 34-yard field goal with three seconds remaining in the game.
So with a win tonight, the Chiefs will wrap up not only the AFC West, but also the number one seed in the AFC. With a win — should they choose to do so — the Chiefs will be able to rest starters against the Oakland Raiders, and then get a week off to prepare for the divisional round at Arrowhead Stadium.
But even if the Chiefs lose on Sunday night against the Seahawks, they can still claim the AFC West and the number one seed by defeating the Oakland Raiders next Sunday.
Thanks, Eagles!
