What to do with the argument that Zion should shut it down? - The Athletic

Everything about Zion Williamson is big. His frame, his weight, his muscles, his vertical leap, his scoring average, his field goal percentage, his hype, his blocks, his dunks, his creativity, his feel. Everything but his ego. So of course if he’s going to hurt himself, it’s not going to be a small deal. He has to bust through a shoe, cost his team a huge game, take a nick out of a corporate behemoth and launch an otherworldly dialogue over what he should do next. It’s Zion’s world, folks. We’re just debating in it.

And it is an intriguing debate. Regardless of what the prognosis is, could it be that Zion Williamson is better off not playing another game for Duke and instead focusing on the NBA Draft? Many intelligent, reasonable people are making that argument. The question resonates because it strikes to the heart of the NCAA’s controversial stance on amateurism, as well as the NBA’s unpopular 19-year age minimum.
