Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill part of police investigation - KSHB

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Chiefs star receiver Tyreek Hill is part of a police investigation in Overland Park, Kansas.

The Kansas City Chiefs said Friday they are aware of the investigation.

“The club is aware of the investigation involving Tyreek Hill,” the team said in a statement. “We are in the process of gathering information and have been in contact with the league and local authorities. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Records obtained by 41 Action News indicate police have conducted two investigations at the home, located near 164th Street and Switzer Road in south Overland Park, in 2019.

A report dated March 5 indicates police took information on a child abuse/neglect case at the home. Hill and fiancee Crystal Espinal are listed as "others involved" on the report. The report shows that police closed the case on March 8, after prosecution was declined.

A second report, dated March 14, shows police investigated possible battery at the home. It's not immediately clear when the battery might have taken place, as the first date listed on the report was Feb. 4, 2019. Though Hill is not mentioned by name, Espinal is listed as "others involved" on the report. That case remains open.

Overland Park Police spokesman John Lacy said the department has sent the battery case to the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges.

A spokesperson for the District Attorney's Office said it would have no comment on the case.

As of Friday afternoon, Hill had not been charged with any crime.
