SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs have historically been one of the greatest franchises in the NBA.
With five NBA championships and 21 consecutive postseason appearances, the Spurs have done its fair share of winning.
In fact, the Spurs have been the most consistent team in the NBA over the span of two decades. Since the 1997-98 season, the Spurs have only spent 65 days with a losing record. The second fewest days belong to the Houston Rockets with 1,007.
Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey commented on the Spurs’ impressive stat.
“Just winning the Texas state championship gives you a pretty good chance to win the NBA title,” Morey said on Twitter.
It’s hard to argue with that considering the Spurs have won five championships, with the most recent coming in 2014.
For the Spurs to spend just 65 days with a losing record is simply incredible. It is a testament to how head coach Gregg Popovich and staff have built.
The Spurs are currently 6th in the Western Conference. The chances of a Spurs-Rockets 2019 postseason series could happen.
