The last team to beat the Virginia Cavaliers in the NCAA Tournament? Well, you'll have to look back more than a year, but even casual fans of March Madness will tell you with a giddy energy that it was none other than the Terriers of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, who became the first 16-seed to knock off a No. 1 when they stunned Tony Bennett's Cavs in 2018.
Well, one year later, UVA is headed to the Final Four after an incredible overtime win over Purdue. And right on cue, UMBC Twitter was all over it:
It's like the Twitter equivalent of patting a little kid on the head condescendingly.
Generally, we ought to expect this from Terriers Twitter. They've been social media superstars ever since that incredible night last spring, and haven't lost any of their mojo despite the fact that their team didn't actually qualify for the Big Dance this year.
Oh, hai, Final Four.
Keep doing your thing, Terriers. We need you out there.
